Welcome to the Mother Letter Project!

Welcome to the new site! We’re excited to see you!

By now, you know the story–the beginning, that is.  But do you know how it plays out? Have you participated in the next chapter? Let’s write together.

Over the next two months, we will be taking more Mother Letter submissions.  We hope to reach those who have yet to write their stories, share their wisdom, relay their joys and fears.  And again, we hope that you will be a part of the process.  But this time, there’s a catch.  We hope to do it all in an effort to combat a problem–to create a community that fights a common enemy.

Haven’t Written Your Letter Yet?

Perhaps you haven’t yet written your Mother Letter.  Today is the day! Submit your letter before Mother’s Day, and we will include it in the Mother Letter Project Mother’s Day Edition.  In exchange for submitting your letter, you will receive a free copy of the Mother’s Day Edition.

Want a Copy of The Mother’s Day Edition?

Perhaps you have already submitted your Mother Letter.  Perhaps you haven’t but would like to purchase a copy.  Perhaps you are a man and are thinking, “this would make the most perfect mother’s day present for my wife.”  Can you obtain a copy of the Mother’s Day Edition?  Why yes, you can.  Here’s how.

If you pledge to donate $0.10 per letter generated to Compassion International’s Malaria Intervention Fund, I will send you an electronic copy of the letters before Mother’s Day.  All proceeds will go directly to the fund.

The Goal?

I like goals.  I use them on a regular basis.  The goal for the Mother’s Day Edition is simple: (a) collect 100 letters, and (b) obtain 100 pledges.  If we attain these two goals, we will generate $1,000 for the Malaria Intervention Fund.  Of course this goal will be subject to revision.  If we collect 500 pledges, even better.  But let’s eat the elephant one tiny bite at a time, shall we?

Use the tabs at the top of this page to let us know you plan to write, pledge, or both.

The Prize?

Wait, wait.  Hold your horses because you’re putting the cart before them.  Come back tomorrow for more on the small token of gratitude we intend to give away to one lucky participant in what we are calling the “Mother’s Day Edition Big Push.”

Have fun.  Enjoy.  And remember, it may not be Christmas, but it is Mother’s Day.

So, I let the cat out of the bag at BlissDom and confessed to Amber that I had wanted to write a letter but just didn’t. Of course she was gracious and encouraging saying for me to get my voice out there. Still haven’t sat down to write it but have been thinking about it. Then I had a dream last night that the words just flowed from my fingertips writing my letter to Amber. Guess I need to put my laptop next to the bed and see if my fingers will work while I’m sleeping :D

Hey friends, don’t forget to let us know if you are “writing” or “donating”.

Ann Voskamp @ Holy Experience 03.04.09 at 2:16 pm

I’m pledging, Seth… I’m in!
(And maybe even write another letter? But that would make three. ~weak smile, hangs head~)

God continue to mightily bless the work of your hands for His glory and the help of those in need…

First…

Ann, you may absolutely write another letter! Your words are always welcome.

Second…

I understand that motherhood is an ever-evolving process, so if your story has evolved, feel free to write again. But, don’t forget to pledge. So far, we have a couple pledgers… want to join in?

Love it, love it, love it.

SO, um. I think I get how it all works…I’ll check the tabs at the top and if I get confused, I’ll ask questions! :)

I just love what you guys are doing and I hope the word spreads like crazy. Thank you!
